ABC Feb. 21 recognized the U.S. construction industry’s top projects of 2004 during the Excellence in Construction awards breakfast at the association’s 2005 national convention in Orlando, Fla.

“The ABC Excellence in Construction awards program highlights the top construction projects across America each year,” said 2005 ABC National Chairman Gary Roden, executive vice president and chief operating officer, AGUIRREcorporation, Dallas. “This year’s winners were exceptional examples of outstanding construction expertise and show once again that ABC members are building some of the highest profile projects across the nation each year.”

ABC's Excellence in Construction awards program recognizes the quality and innovation of merit shop construction and honors all members of the construction team, including the contractor, the owner and the design team. This year’s winners, selected from more than 300 entries submitted from across the United States, were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unusual challenges, completion time, workmanship, safety and budget.

A distinguished panel of 11 industry experts judged the competition including representatives from Willis, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Design Build Institute of America, the National Institute of Building Sciences, Engineering News-Record, Building Owners and Managers Association, Contractor Marketing Inc. and others.
